Description

Job purpose

       Provide hands-on human resources support for a construction-focused workforce, including both union and non-union employees. This role supports day-to-day HR operations such as employee relations, recruiting, benefits administration,         compliance, and administration of collective bargaining agreements.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Support daily HR operations for both union and non-union employees across the organization.
  • Interpret and administer collective bargaining agreements (CBA), including handling questions, applying contract language, and supporting issue resolution.
  • Manage employee relations matters, including coaching supervisors, conducting investigations, and supporting disciplinary processes.
  • Lead recruiting and hiring efforts, including job postings, candidate screening, onboarding, and new employee orientation.
  • Administer employee benefits programs and serve as a point of contact for employee questions (plan design and vendor selection handled at the corporate level).
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and company policies.
  • Maintain and manage employee records and HRIS systems, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Support payroll-related processes as needed, including coordination with internal or external payroll resources.
  • Provide guidance to supervisors and employees on HR policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Foster a positive work environment by building relationships with employees and field leadership.
  • Exercise proper care and maintenance of company equipment.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.
  • Experience with HRIS systems required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
Experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of HR generalist experience; additional experience may be required for candidates considered at a higher level.
  • Experience working in a union environment and administering collective bargaining agreements strongly preferred.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
